Hairline Routine for Men: A 90-Day Plan With Photos to Track

Short answer: 90 days won't transform your hair, but it is long enough to build habits, get a baseline, find out whether something more than genetics is going on, and see a dermatologist. Use this plan to replace guesswork with photos and consistency.

Why 90 days?

Hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, and most treatments take three to six months to show anything. A 90-day block lets you set up properly and make one honest check-in, then plan the next six months with a doctor.

Before you start: your baseline (Day 0)

Take five photos

  1. Front, hair pulled back
  2. Left temple
  3. Right temple
  4. Top of head, from above
  5. Crown, from behind (use a second mirror or ask someone)

Use the same room, the same light (ideally daylight from a window), dry hair and the same hair length. Save them in a dated album.

Write down your situation

  • Age when you first noticed thinning
  • Family history on both sides
  • Any illness, surgery, crash diet or major stress in the last six months
  • Current products and medicines

Days 1 to 30: foundations

Scalp care

  • Wash with a mild shampoo as often as your scalp needs. Daily washing is fine and doesn't cause hair loss.
  • If you have dandruff, use an anti-dandruff shampoo two to three times a week. Inflammation from dandruff can add to shedding.
  • Stop hot blow-drying every day and switch to a lighter styling product.

Daily life

  • Eat protein at most meals: eggs, daal, chicken, fish, dahi.
  • Aim for seven or more hours of sleep.
  • If you smoke, this is a good time to cut down.

Doctor

  • Book a dermatologist appointment for this month. Take your notes and photos.

Days 31 to 60: add evidence-based steps (if advised)

If your dermatologist confirms pattern hair loss, you may start one of these:

  • Topical minoxidil, used as directed. Expect some extra shedding early on. See our minoxidil guide.
  • Finasteride, only if prescribed and after discussing side effects.
  • A derma roller routine, if your skin is healthy and your doctor agrees. Follow our roller safety guide.

A sample weekly derma roller slot

  • Pick a fixed evening, so it becomes a habit.
  • Wash and dry your scalp, disinfect the roller and skin, roll gently, apply your serum as its directions say, then clean and store the roller.
  • Don't roll on the same day as harsh treatments, after sunburn, or on irritated skin.
  • Follow the frequency printed on your roller or advised by your doctor. Don't increase it on your own.

Days 61 to 90: consistency and the first check-in

  • Keep everything the same. Changing products now resets your timeline.
  • On day 90, retake the five photos under identical conditions.
  • Compare side by side. Look for stability first. In month three, stopping further loss is already a good sign.
  • Don't judge regrowth yet. Six months is the honest checkpoint for most treatments.

Copy it into your notes app. If you've missed lots of days, that's useful information for your doctor too.

What to do after day 90

  • Stable or better: continue, and do the next photo check at month six.
  • Worse: see your dermatologist. You may need a different approach, or there may be another cause.
  • Unclear: keep going until month six before changing anything.

Some men like having everything for a roller routine in one place. Our featured kit includes a hair serum, an "Anti Septic for Prep" spray and a 540-needle derma roller with case, with cash on delivery anywhere in Pakistan. It contains minoxidil 5%, which may help some people with pattern thinning over 3–6 months; early shedding is possible, it is not a cure, and it is not for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Consult a doctor first. It doesn't replace minoxidil or medical treatment, and it isn't a cure for genetic ganjapan. We're still confirming the needle length and recommended frequency, and we'll publish them on the product page. Always follow the leaflet in the box. The serum contains minoxidil 5%, biotin, D-Panthenol, wheat protein and ethanol: results usually take 3–6 months, early shedding is possible, it's not for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and you should consult a doctor before use. It is not a cure.

See a dermatologist if…

  • You haven't had a diagnosis yet. Make this the first step of the plan
  • Shedding is sudden or patchy
  • Your scalp is irritated, bleeding or infected after rolling
  • You notice any side effects from a medicine
  • At day 90 things are clearly worse

Bottom line

The best hair routine is the one you can stick to and measure. Baseline photos, gentle scalp care, a confirmed diagnosis and one proven treatment, used consistently, will tell you more in 90 days than a year of switching products.
